Title:
METHOD FOR DECOMPOSING HETEROCYCLIC SULFUR COMPOUND
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2004089131
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain a microorganism capable of decomposing wide kinds of heterocyclic sulfur compounds under high-temperature conditions at 50°C and provide a means for efficiently desulfurizing petroleum, etc., by using the microorganism.

A new desulfurizing bacterium Mycobacterium Frei WU-0103 strain has ability to selectively cleave C-S bonds of heterocyclic sulfur compounds such as dibenzothiophenes, benzothiophenes, naphthothiophene and alkyl derivatives thereof at 50°C. Sulfur can efficiently be desulfurized from petroleum, particularly light oil and heavy oil by using the bacterium.
