Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for decomposing and purifying a gaseous organochlorine compound by which the release of chlorine to the environment is suppressed and the chlorine is effectively utilized.
SOLUTION: This method for decomposing and purifying pollutants comprises a step of irradiating a gas to be treated which contains the chlorine and the pollutants in air with light from a light irradiating means and thereby decomposing the pollutants. Furthermore, the method comprises bringing the air after the decomposing treatment into contact with an alkaline aqueous solution and providing a chlorine-containing alkaline aqueous solution and a step of reutilizing the resultant chlorine-containing alkaline aqueous solution as a source for producing the chlorine.
