To provide a method which can precisely deposit a filler for brazing on a jointed surface with the use of a cold spray deposition technique, in order to braze components in a manufacturing environment.
The cold spray deposition system includes a spray gun having a convergent or divergent nozzle 205, and sprays the filler on the jointed surface of a component 101 through the nozzle to deposit the filler thereon. A particle of a powderized metallic material used for forming the filler to be deposited on the jointed surface of the component 101 has preferably a diameter in a range of about 5 to 50 micron (0.2 to 2.0 mils). The particle of the filler can be accelerated to a supersonic speed by using a compressed gas of helium, nitrogen, another inactive gas or a mixture thereof. The layer of the oxide which is formed on the surface of the particle or exists on a component surface is broken by the remarkably high pressure, and a new metal-metal contact is formed.
