Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the accurate prediction of an ingot shape with a DC casting and the repeatability of an 1/4 gutter by calculating cooling-solidifying temp. and an elastic- plastic stress of ingot finite element with the descent of a prescribed length in the ingot from the ingot shape at the initial stage and cooling-solidifying parameter and deciding a coordinate of the finite elements.
SOLUTION: The ingot shape at the initial stage with the DC casting of aluminum is divided into the finite elements to obtain the coordinate of nodes. Successively, the descending length of the ingot is set and the cooling condition in this descending length is set. Based on this cooling condition and the cooling-solidifying parameter, a two-dimensional solidifying temp. calculation and a two-dimensional elastic-plastic calculation are executed. By this method, the variation in the coordinate of each node is obtd. and the ingot shape is calculated. At this time, when the whole descending length does not reach the preset length, the recalculation is executed, and when this length reaches the preset length, after checking the shape precision, this shape is made to the predicted shape, based on the deviated The predicted ingot shape and a target ingot shape, the feedback of a mold shape is executed to obtain the optimum DC casting mold.
