To detect resistor disconnection without enlarging a circuit scale.
Output of a main power generator 2 is converted into a DC current by a commutator 3 and a smoothing capacitor 4 so as to drive an AC electric motor 6 by converting the DC current into an AC current by an inverter 5. An output of the commutator 3 is provided with resistors 10a, 10b connected in parallel via a switch 9. A vehicle driving device is provided with a current detector 11 for detecting a current flowing in the switch 9, and a voltage detector 12 for detecting a voltage across the capacitor 4. A current value detected by the current detector 11 is supplied to a low-pass filter 13 so as to extract a low-frequency component. A divider 14 divides a signal detected by the voltage detector 12 by an output signal of the low-pass filter 13. A multiplier 15 multiplies the output of the divider 14 by a value 16 obtained by detecting ON-duty of the switch 9. A comparator 18 compares the output of the multiplier 15 with a reference voltage generated by a reference-voltage generator 17.
