Abstract:
To provide assays for detecting canine early renal disease in companion animals.
The method for detecting early renal disease, comprising the steps of (a) obtaining a sample from an animal to be tested and (b) determining the amount of albumin in the sample. If the specific gravity of the sample is normalized to 1.010 g/ml, the amount of albumin in a range from about 10 μg/ml to about 300 μg/ml in the sample is indicative of early renal disease. The animal is a cat, dog, horse, or cow.
