To reproduce an angle determining method, where insensitiveness that has increased uniquely to the influence of foreign matter is achieved to contamination or electromagnetic fault impulses.
By the method, a rotational angle, especially an angle state, in the steering handle of an automobile is determined absolutely by a transmission/reception unit including a sensor array having a light source and a number of photoelectric conversion elements, and a code carrier that is arranged rotatably to the unit and has a single-wire code having a unique angle value. In this case, a segment related to the code is mapped onto the sensor array, and is evaluated so that a code word, where the output signal of the sensor array coincides with a real angle value, is detected. The insensitiveness that has increased uniquely to the influence of a foreign matter should be reproduced, especially to the contamination or the electromagnetic fault impulses. The output signal of the sensor array is corrected by a correlation filter having a reference signal indicating the angle information of a code, and the best coincidence positions of the output signal and the reference signal are detected as a real codeword.
