To provide a method for the development using a nonmagnetic single component by which a sufficient amount of toner can be always and stably transferred from a sponge-type supply roller to a developing roller and superior images can be obtained.
The method for the development using a nonmagnetic single component is carried out by supplying the following nonmagnetic single- component toner from a sponge-type supply roller to a developing roller, forming a thin layer of the toner on the developing roller with a layer regulating member, charging the toner and then using the toner for the development. The toner used comprises mother particles containing at least a binder resin and a coloring agent, and silica and particles of metal stearates are used as external additives to the mother particles. The particles of metal stearates are added by 0.05 to 1.0 part by mass to 100 parts by mass of the toner.
