PURPOSE: To always maintain the appropriate clearance by rotating a driving rotor of a screw type compressor or the like to the normal direction and the reverse direction with a free rotor, and obtaining a backlash between gear surfaces on the basis of angle of rotation of both the driving rotor and the free rotor to adjust a set position of the rotor.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of adjusting work, a male rotor 4 is rotated and the gear surface of the male rotor 4 is made to abut on a female rotor 3, and when the female rotor 3 starts to rotate with the male rotor 4, the rotation of the male rotor 4 is stopped. At this stage, angle of rotation of each rotor 3, 4 is measured by rotary encoders 12, 13. Next, the female rotor 3 is rotated with the male rotor 4, and angle of rotation of each rotor 3, 4 is measured, and a change of the angle of rotation is measured. Thereafter, the male rotor 4 is rotated reversely to make the gear surface of the opposite side abut on the female rotor 3, and angle of rotation of each rotor 3, 4 at this stage is measured to obtain a backlash, and the rotor is set at a central position of the maximum error in the direction, where the backlash is small, among rotational errors at the time of normal rotation and reverse rotation.
