To provide a method and a device for adjusting the shearing deformation of a rubber bearing body at a construction site which do not need to perform such an improvement as to form screw holes in a steel pedestal, a sole plate, and a lower shoe and do not need to form a fixing part on a lower structure and an upper structure.
A mounting member 12 is so bolted to the sole plate 30 that a jack 14 can be extended/retracted in the direction parallel to the extending/retracting direction of the upper structure 54 by using the bolt holes obtained by removing at least a part of the bolts which tighten the upper shoe 22 to the sole plate 30. The jack 14 is disposed by the mounting member 12. A rigid spacer 16 which transmits a vertical upward force applied to the mounting member 12 to the upper structure 54 and receiving a reaction force when the jack 14 extends in the direction parallel to the extending/retracting direction of the upper structure 54 and applies a pressing force to the lower shoe 22 is disposed between the mounting member 12 and the upper structure 54.
