Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep high the service quality of asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) traffic regardless of presence/absence of shaping.
SOLUTION: The traffic without shaping is stored in a dedicated output queue (queue group 31 by classes) for each ATM service category and outputted through the control of fixed priority in the order of, respective priorities. On the other hand, the traffic with shaping is stored in any one of (n) pieces of shapers (shaper queue group 30) and shaping processing is performed. Concerning all the shapers, any suitable one of five round robin control parts 33 can be selected by the class of that traffic or setting of software so that the optimum control of output priority of the relevant ATM traffic can be performed.
