The system for avoiding the collision comprises a patient positioning surface for supporting a patient, a lift sub-system for adjusting the raising of the patient positioning surface, and a longitudinal sub-system for moving the patient positioning surface in the longitudinal direction, an inclination sub-system for inclining the patient positioning surface, a position sensor for finding the position of the patient positioning surface, and a control sub-system for controlling the motion of the patient positioning system. The control sub-system kinetically determines the distance of clearance between the patient positioning surface and an object. The control sub-system stops the motion of the patient positioning surface if the distance of clearance is the minimum safety distance of clearance or less.
