PURPOSE: To provide a bevel copying method and bevel copying device which detects the bevel position of a thin base material with high reliability and also has relatively small-sized, solid, and low-cost equipment.
CONSTITUTION: Across a bevel center line Lc extending in the extension direction (y) of a bevel, 1st and 2nd eddy current type displacement sensors 23 and 24 are set opposite 1st and 2nd materials 1a and 1b to be gouged which form the bevel 2. The swing center position of a gauging torch 4 is determined at the intermediate point (z) between the eddy current type displacement sensors 23 and 24 by driving the eddy current type displacement sensors 23 and 24 in the bevel width direction (z) at the same time so that the distances to the materials 1a and 1b that the detection signals of the eddy current type displacement sensors 23 and 24 show become equal to each other.
