Abstract:
Method and apparatus for bonding veneer strips of wood or strips of resilient and flexible plastic onto the profiled edges of a plate-shaped workpiece veneered on its surfaces, using the following steps: a) the plate-shaped workpiece provided, on its surface, with a veneer layer or a coating is machined in order to produce the desired profile edge, and also simultaneously to mill the veneer layer or the coating on the visible surface, a step-shaped shoulder being simultaneously formed along the horizontal plane b) the edge-covering strip is then attached to the horizontal face of the plate-shaped workpiece, displaced in the direction of the step-shaped shoulder, and bonded to the horizontal face c) after this, the edge-covering strip is drawn round the profiled workpiece edge and bonded, and d) on completion of the edge-gluing operation, the excess material of the covering strip is removed on one side by machining.
