Title:
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CASTING OF WELDING ROD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS58148071
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate surface finishing after casting without forming any oxide layer on casting surfaces and to prevent the inclusion of air and mis-run during casting, by packing molten metal into evacuated pipes.

CONSTITUTION: A metal mold 1 is mounted with pipes 7W consisting of quartz or heat resistant glass in grooves 6, which pipes 7 are opened 8 in the top end parts and are melt stuck with thin "Pyrex " films 9 in the openings 8. A vacuum is maintained in the pipes 7. When molten metal such as super alloy is charged through a sprue 3, the molten metal enters the inside of a gate 4, melts the films 9 and is quickly packed in the pipes 7. Since the outside surface of the molten metal is covered by the pipes 7 in this stage, the molten metal solidifies without contact with the atmospheric air and without forming any oxide layer.
