PURPOSE: To attain the control of the reproductive characteristic of an achromatic color and high accuracy color correction.
CONSTITUTION: The size relation of input signals R, G and B corrected by an input gamma correction part 1 are decided by preprocessing part 2 to generate a minimum signal, to generate a difference signal between the input signals R, G and B and the minimum signal and to generate an area selection signal. An achromatic color output signal generation part 4 generates an output P1 corresponding to an achromatic color input based on the minimum signal and an arithmetic interpolation part 5 generates an output P2 by arithmetic- interpolating space formed by the minimum signal and the difference signal by triangular-prism-interpolation so as to generate an output signal by adding outputs P1 and P2.
