Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of frequency of knocking when a knock sensor is abnormal and to protect an engine from knocking by a method wherein when abnormality occurs to a knock sensor to detect knocking of an engine, lockup operation of a torque converter is prohibited.
SOLUTION: First, a knocking signal outputted from a knock sensor 14 is compared with data of a knock sensor abnormality decision reference data stored at an ROM 22. When it is decided that abnormality occurs, a CPU 20 outputs it to an ignition drive circuit 26 that an ignition timing learning off signal prohibits control of regulation of an ignition timing of following ignition timing learning control. Further, in synchronism therewith, an ordinary ignition timing is uniformly delayed. Simultaneously with coping with fail safe on the engine side, fail safe during abnormality of the knock sensor 14 is also carried out on the AT 30 side. Namely, running at low rotation and a high load due to lockup operation is prevented from occurring and through prohibition of lockup operation, transfer to lockup non-operation state is carried out.
