PURPOSE: To improve the intruction of a cut thick plate between rollers of the later stage by heating the cut end of the thick plate simultaneously with the cutting of the same so that the lowering of the temperature of the plate end at the sheared portion, which causes the shearing resistance of the plate to increase, is prevented.

CONSTITUTION: High-frequency heating units 11, 11 are provided in those sides of the peripheral surfaces of both shearing drums 1, 1 which correspond to the rear of shearing blades 2, 2 in the direction of rotation. These high-frequency heating units are connected to electrical supplies 14, 14 for the units, respectively, through lead wires 12, 12, slip rings 3, 3 and lead wires 13, 13. The front end of a thick plate A is cut under a low shearing resistance by the shearing blades 2, 2, while the cut end of the thick plate is heated by the high frequency heating units 11, 11, thereby, the introduction of the cut thick plate between rolling rollers in case that the cut thick plate is rolled by, for example, a stop mill in a later stage, is improved.
