Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the detection of backlight state while paying attention on image pickup state by integration the luminance level of pixels excepting for the pixel at a luminance level between two slice levels applied from the outside and distinguishing an object area and a back ground area.
SOLUTION: For an image pickup screen, only a high luminance area ARH and a low luminance area ARL are extracted by the slice integration of an optical detection circuit 20. By using these high luminance area ARH and low luminance area ARL, only a middle luminance area ARM is obtained by a control part 10. As for the middle luminance area ARM only of a subject image including no background, only the luminance level almost of the object can be exactly calculated in comparison with the case of calculating the luminance level of the object while including the low luminance area ARL composed of a background image or the case of otaining the luminance level of the object by calculating an average luminance level concerning the luminance area including the low luminance area and the high luminance area.
