To provide a method and a device for detecting the flowing state of molten metal where, even in the case of die casting in which a molten metal flowing rate is high, the flowing state of the molten metal can be detected with high precision, and the control of casting conditions in accordance with the detected result is made possible.
The method for detecting the flowing state of molten metal 31 is provided with: a step where, at the time when the molten metal 31 is filled into a die 2 and is solidified to cast a molding, the tip of the flowing molten metal 31 is detected; a step where the main flow 31 of the flowing molten metal 31 is detected; a step where the difference in time ΔT between the point of time T2 at which the tip of the molten metal 31 is detected and the point of time T1 at which the main flow is detected is calculated; and a step where the difference in time ΔT and a threshold T0 which has been beforehand set are compared, and based on the compared result, the flowing state of the molten metal 31 is decided.
