To provide a method and device for detecting a thermally deteriorated area of a concrete structure, which easily and accurately determine the thermally deteriorated area of a fire-damaged concrete structure.
A bottomed hollow cylindrical body 24 formed of ceramic having a thermal conductivity approximately equal to or lower than that of concrete is embedded through an opening in a surface 2 into a surface layer part 3 of a concrete structure 1 which is possible to be fire-damaged. The hollow part of the cylindrical body 24 is coated with a temperature sensitive composition 20 which irreversibly changes color at the deterioration temperature of concrete, in the depth direction, and the hollow part is covered in advance of a fire disaster. After the fire disaster, the depth to the part having the unchanged color of the temperature sensitive composition 20 is detected. Preferably, a ceramic fitting member 14 having a thermal conductivity approximately equal to or lower than that of concrete is fitted in the hollow part of the cylindrical body 24, and the external surface of the fitting member 14 as a substitute of or in addition to the hollow part of the cylindrical body 24 is coated with the temperature sensitive composition 20.
