PURPOSE: To provide an easy deviding method and a device of a glass plate even by an unskilled worker, when the glass plate is necessarily devided to form strips as in the case of image sensor production process, and further the process of dividing the glass plates is made to be performed automatically.
CONSTITUTION: A method and a device 20 of dividing a glass plate with a large area 28 along one or more of scribed lines 30 drawn in advance on the one surface of the said glass plate, into the strips. And while the said glass plate is held and fixed by holding means (32) in one side of one of the said scribed lines, a stamping blade 24 is pressed to the said fixed glass plate vertically to the main surface of the plate and at the same time to the different surface of the plate than the one where the scribed lines 30 are drawn, along one of the said scribed lines, and at the same time the plate is pressed by pressing means (32) at the other side of the above mentioned one of the scribed lines 30 from the reverse direction of the stamping blade 24, to divide the said glass plate by rotating the said glass plate around the blade of the stamping blade 24.
