Abstract:
PURPOSE: To continuously mix PuO2 and UO2 powder, to improve the capacity, working efficiency and maintainability of the device and to facilitate criticality safety control.
CONSTITUTION: An upper disk 11 is put over a lower disk 12 at an interval, and both disks are rotated in a direction opposite to each other in a vessel 13 having such a thickness that the mixed oxide of uranium and plutonium does not becomes critical. Annular or ≥2 disintegrating upper teeth 11a are formed on the peripheral edge of the upper disk. The lower disk has almost the same external shape as the upper disk, and annular or ≥2 disintegrating lower teeth 12a having a diameter different from that of the upper teeth. A mixed powder of uranium and plutonium contg. aggregated powder is supplied into the vessel from a feed port 11c at the center of rotation of the upper teeth, and a laminar flow of powder is formed on a thin film between both disks by the centrifugal force resulting from high-speed rotation. The laminar flow is passed through a space between the upper and lower teeth by the centrifugal force, and the aggregated powder is disintegrated and mixed with powder. The disintegrated powder is collected and discharged outside the vessel.
