To obtain and display a new blood vessel image with high discriminability in place of a conventional blood vessel image in which more accurate and quantitative recognition of an aortic aneurysm is difficult by observing the blood vessel image under the current situation that the aortic aneurysm in the chest, etc. is often displayed and observed as the blood vessel image and that the observation is performed by visually observing the displayed image.
A thoracic aorta blood vessel image is extracted from the tomographic images of the same region captured twice at different times, and attribute values such as the area and diameter to the extracted aortic image are found (F3). By comparing the attribute values or displaying the difference, change of the aortic aneurysm with the passage of time can be recognized.
