Drying of resin pellets 201 is carried out by feeding a high temperature nitrogen gas into a hopper 10, 10A from the lowermost part of the hopper 10, 10A where resin pellets 201 are stored, and circulating the nitrogen gas within the hopper 10, 10A. The feed amount of the nitrogen gas is regulated as always constant, or intermittently by a large amount as needed.
