To use a band saw and a circular saw having a tooth shape that forms a circular arc in which a tooth bottom is continuous from a tooth throat repetitively up to use limit by improving the movement of a grinding wheel in such a way that grinding is done by drawing circular arc from the tooth bottom to the tooth throat so as to grind a saw tooth.

This is a method for grinding a saw tooth in which the saw tooth 1a is fed to a grinding position by a feed member to let a grinding wheel for grinding perform the movement copying a tooth shape and grind the saw tooth 1a. When the saw tooth 1a is fed to the grinding position by the feed member and stops, a grinding part 3a of the grinding wheel 3 is lowered on a tooth bottom (a) to let the grinding part 3a perform the movement in such a way that it grinds the tooth 1a by drawing circular arc from the tooth bottom (a) to a tooth throat (b) and comes off a blade tip (c) so that grinding of the saw tooth forming circular arc in which the tooth throat (b) and the tooth bottom (a) are continuous becomes possible.
