Abstract:

To provide an egg candling method and device capable of identifying and removing eggs with the black rot.

The method for identifying living eggs includes steps for: applying light from a light source to eggs in a carrier; receiving the light passing through each egg by a photodetector; allowing each egg to generate an output signal corresponding to the light received by the photodetector; analyzing the output signal of each egg for determining the opacity of the each egg; removing eggs having the opacity smaller than a first opacity value; and removing eggs having the opacity larger than a second opacity value that is different from the first opacity value.
