Title:
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR INSPECTING SEALING SURFACE AREA OF CONTAINER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3040376
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for measuring or determining dimensional characteristics of the container-sealing surface area, by improved immunity to change and shaking of position in the container sealing surface area.
SOLUTION: This apparatus is for inspecting the sealing surface area 36 of a container finish that includes a structured light source 44 positioned to direct a collimated line-shaped light beam 46 onto the sealing surface area 36 of a container as the container is moved relative to the light source. The line-shaped light beam 46 at the container sealing surface area 36 has a long dimension orthogonal to the container axis 25 that extends in chord form across the sealing surface area 36, and a narrow dimension tangential to the container axis. A light sensor 52 is disposed to receive portions of the line-shaped light beam reflected from the sealing surface area 35, and provides an electrical output signal that varies height or level of the sealing surface area 36 with respect to the light source 44 and the sensor 52. The sensor 52 is coupled to associated electronics 60 for providing information indicative of sealing surface area 36 height.
