METHOD AND DEVICE FOR JOINING ROLLED STOCK

PURPOSE: To prevent oxidation on a surface to be worked, to remove chips, and to provide a joined surface free from the entering of an oxidized film and foreign matters by joining both surfaces to be worked by means of pressure welding while blowing reducing flames on both surfaces until they are joined after machining.
CONSTITUTION: A preceding rolled stock 1 and a succeeding rolled stock 2 are lapped by rear end clamping device and tip clamping device, and they are fixed leaving a distance slightly larger than the diameter of a cylindrical cutter 19a in the vertical direction. The surface 2a to be worked of the upper surface of the tip part of the succeeding rolled stock 2 is obliquely worked by the cylindrical cutter 19a. Simultaneously with the working, reducing flames are blown on the surface 2a from a reducing flame burner 20b. At first, a surface 1a to be worked on the lower surface of the rear end part of the preceding rolled stock 1, is worked. Simultaneously with the start of the working, the reducing flames are blown on the surface 1a by a reducing flame burner 20a. Next, the preceding rolled stock 1 is lowered, the press device of a pressure welding device is operated, a ram 23e is lowered, and a pressure welding operation is started. Consequently, joining surfaces are joined in a state free from an oxidized film.
