To prevent occurrence of unevenness in dry degree among timbers to be dried and to improve workability of dry process.
A dry timber W is produced by high frequency drying wherein the timber W is subjected to high frequency while the long square timber W loaded in a drying device 2 is held between respective counter electrodes comprising upper part electrodes 92, 94, and 96 and lower part electrodes 91, 93, and 95. Here, a timber laminating process where a block wherein the upper part electrodes 92, 94, and 96 are placed on top parts of laminated bodies W11, W12, and W13 obtained by laminating timbers W on the lower part electrodes 91, 93, and 95 so that they are of he same height in plural rows is formed in the drying device 2, and a drying process where counter electrodes 91-96 are applied with high frequency after the timber laminating process are provided, and timbers W are so laminated that a gap is formed between rows in the timber laminating process.
