Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method and device by which a reliable waveguide which can be corrected locally in shape can be manufactured at an extremely reduced cost.

CONSTITUTION: A spiral waveguide has one surface made of a metallic band 1 which is passed through successively arranged forming devices 2-4, each of which has a pair of wheels respectively, having recessed and projecting peripheries. The wheels having projecting peripheries have perfectly smooth surfaces and the intervals between the wheels of the forming devices on the downstream side are made slightly narrower than the thickness of the band 1 passed through the devices. The final number of spirals of the waveguide is adjusted by means of a pressing wheel 9, provided at an adjustable position. This waveguide can be utilized especially for a laser cutting device.
