Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the method and the device for picture processing which select color conversion characteristics in accordance with whether a color management system is built in a host machine or not.
CONSTITUTION: A control part 16 discriminates-whether the color management" system is built in a host machine 2 or not by picture information inputted through an I/F 11 and controls a selector 12 to switch the compression characteristic of a gamut compression part 13. Picture data whose color reproducing range is compressed by this compression part 13 is subjected to prescribed picture processing by a color processing part 14 and is sent to an engine part 15 and is printed.
