PURPOSE: To stably control the floating of the information recording and reproducing head of an information recording and reproducing device adopting a capacitance detecting system even by applying a recording voltage.
CONSTITUTION: An edge detector 42 which detects the leading and trailing edges of a recording pulse generated when a voltage is applied, one-shot multivibrator 43 which generates a masking signal that covers a voltage applying period based on the edge signals of the recording pulse detected by means of the detector 42, and sample holder 25 which holds the capacitance between an information recording medium and electrode probe 15 based on the masking signal, are provided. When the masking signal is inputted against a detected capacitance signal S2, the holder 25 holds the capacitance immediately before the input of the masking signal, and based on it a servo circuit 31 controls the floating of an information recording and reproducing head through an actuator.
