To provide a method and device for preparation of sheet splicing capable of locating the leading edge of the following sheet in the prescribed position in a sheet splicing device without resorting to manual handling.

The preparation method for sheet splicing works with the sheet splicing device 9 to splice the leading edge S20 of the following sheet S2 paid off from the second web G2 to the first fed sheet S1 paid off from the first web G1, in which the leading edge S20 of the following sheet S2 is located in the prescribed position in the sheet splicing device 9, whereby the leading edge S20 of the following sheet S2 is moved transversely to over the sheet splicing device 9, and the moving direction of the leading edge S20 of the following sheet S2 is turned downward, and the leading edge S20 of the following sheet S2 is moved downward and put in the prescribed position in the sheet splicing device 9.
