Nozzle headers 5, 6 are arranged in the vicinity of a contact part between rolling rolls 3, 4 and backup rolls 1, 2 in the rolling stand, a contact part between a rolling roll and an intermediate roll, a contact part between intermediate rolls, a contact part between an intermediate roll and a backup roll, and the like. The roll contact parts are covered in a longitudinal direction with a fluid film formed by spraying a fluid. Since flying matter to come is blocked by the fluid film, it is not bitten between the rolls. This method is preferably carried out in combination with such a method that the foreign matter is washed away by spraying the fluid on a side guide 9, which is set on the inlet side of the rolling stand, at the time of non-rolling.
