Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate shade for a virtual object described with spatial data based on a photographed image by extracting the contour of a real object from the image of the real object and storing this contour image.
SOLUTION: When an illumination 32 is to light up a real cone 100, a camera 29 is disposed at a position almost coincident with the position of the illumination 32 (including an attitude as well) and the image of the target object 100 lighted up by the illumination 32 is photographed. The contour 121 of this image 120 has a form almost close to the shade which is generated when the target object 100 is irradiated with the illumination 32. The photographed image of the object 100 to apply the shade is previously recorded in the form of spatial light beam data. The shade (virtual shade) based on the virtual illumination can be provided by applying coordinate transformation, namely, affine transformation to the contour form 121 with the viewpoint position of the virtual illumination as a coordinate axis.
