Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the occurrence rate of erroneous detection caused by dirt on a photosensor and to prevent a malfunction by setting a discrimination value for discriminating a paper money each time the paper money is inserted, and detecting the presence/absence of an inserted paper money based on the result of comparing the set discrimination value with the output level of the photosensor.
SOLUTION: When a power source is turned on, a paper money processor 1 is turned into standby state and when an entrance sensor 11 detects the insertion of a paper money without detecting the existence of the paper money through a photosensor 12, a control part 10 stores the output level of the photosensor 12 in the standby state in a memory 15 and determines the second discrimination value based on this level. Afterwards, a shutter is opened by operating a shutter motor 20 by operating a driving circuit 19 through the control part 10, a paper money carrier motor 17 is driven by operating a driving circuit 16, and the conveyance of the inserted paper money is started. Then, the control part 10 waits the passage of the paper money to be detected based on the output of the photosensor 12 and the second discrimination value and when the passage of the paper money is detected, the paper money carrier motor 17 is stopped.
