PURPOSE: To accurately recognize character information of a slip prepared not by means of the special tool of high printing accuracy but by means of a word processor, etc.
CONSTITUTION: In the slip 1, character entry frames are plurally arranged vertically and laterally and the character entry frames are described in a color which can be sensed by the scanner of a facsimile equipment 100, etc. The facsimile equipment 100 inputs the slip 1 and its picture information is stored in a picture information memory part 102 through an interface part 101. Concerning picture information in the memory part 102, an input slip inclination correcting part 103 corrects inclination based on the character entry frame in picture information, a character entry frame detection part 104 detects the position of each character entry frame in picture information, a character entry frame removing part 105 removes a character entry frame at the detected character entry frame position and a character segmentation part 106 segments the character pattern at the position.
