To solve such a problem that a produced three-dimensional image can not be viewed from a changed viewpoint since photographing is difficult concerning the production of the three-dimensional image from a photographed image.
The method is provided with an area dividing means 8 for dividing the photographed two-dimensional image of an object into small sections, an inclination calculating means 10 for calculating the inclination in a three-dimensional space in each small section from luminance in each section on the basis of the relationship between the illuminating direction and the image pickup direction and three-dimensional image creating means 10, 11 and 13 for creating the three-dimensional image of the object by utilizing the calculated inclination in each small section and the continuity of the small sections.
