PURPOSE: To produce a joint provided sufficiently with the deformability and strength of small diameter pipes easily and surely with tapered butt welding by intersecting welding bead directions diagonally with respect to the axial direction of pipe materials and welding the pipe materials.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of pipe members 3, 3 to be subjected to a welded joint are coaxially aligned by butting the tapered end parts 2, 2 facing each other complementarily and the tapered surfaces 1 are disposed in the prescribed positions to be welded facing the guide groove 5 of a guide ring 4. A welding work part 7 welds both pipe members along the butt tapered surfaces 1 thereby by the composite motions of the circumferential motion of a welding supporting part 8 provided in the linear groove 9 of a rotating ring 6 rotated and moved in one circumferential direction by a turning means and the axial reciprocating motion in the linear groove 9 of the part 8 by the groove 5, thereby producing the tapered butt joint surely.
