To provide a method and a device for straightening or forming a metallic material of wire or bars, in which a product with a predetermined warpage is stably obtained by keeping constant a load given to the metallic material, and which are automatically controllable.
A device 2 for straightening or forming materials Wa, Wb of wire or bars is provided with the following roller units disposed in series near unwinding-feeding parts 1a, 1b for the materials Wa, Wb of wire or bars: lateral-straightening roller units 12a, 12b, where a plurality of rollers 11 are opposed to each other, with given pitches P shifted, on the same plane as the feeding direction X of the materials Wa, Wb, and are linearly arranged; vertical-straightening roller units 14a, 14b, where a plurality of rollers 13 are opposed to each other, with given pitches P shifted, in the direction orthogonal to the feeding direction X of the materials Wa, Wb, and are linearly arranged; and forming roller units 17a, 17b, where a plurality of stationary rollers 15a are opposed, with given pitches P shifted, to movable rollers 15b equipped with a load-measuring part 16 including a load cell. The load-measuring part 16 is connected to a control means 18 controlling the displacement amount of the movable rollers 15b.
