Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a detecting method of a liquid face level in a mold at low running cost, with reference to a method and device to detect the liquid face level in the mold for detecting a liquid face level of a molten metal in the mold in the case of continuous casting of a molten metal such as a steel, in a way to quickly respond to a sudden fluctuation of the liquid face level and not to generate a drifting phenomena.
SOLUTION: A liquid face level value obtained by carrying out an calculation on the basis of a temperature detected value received from a temperature detecting element installed in a mold 1 and, a liquid face level value obtained by a calculation based on a γ ray intensity detected value detecting a γ ray from a γ ray generating source 4 of one side of the mold 1 by a γ ray detecting unit 6 of the other side of the mold 1, are used. A short cycle fluctuation portion out of the liquid face level values based on the γ ray intensity detecting value, and a long cycle fluctuation portion out of the liquid face level values based on the temperature detecting value are supplemented to make it as the liquid face level value.
