Abstract:
To provide a method for automatically discriminating between the front and the back of not only a standardized wood plate but also a non-standardized wood plate in similar ways by matching the specified surface of the plate with annual ring.
Images are captured using a camera 6 from the end face 5 of a plate 1 and inputted to an image processing system 7. The image processing system 7 extracts annual ring within each image as lines or figures. The correspondence between the lines or figures and the specified surface 10 of the plate is detected. With the correspondence maintained, it is determined whether the specified surface 10 of the plate 1 is the front or back.
