To prevent dioxins or the like from being generated and at the same time, prevent abnormal combustion, such as the explosion of an exhaust gas containing flammable constituents when dissolving, using arc dissolution facilities having a shaft- type preheating chamber.
In the dissolution method using the arc dissolution facilities 1, that have a dissolution chamber 2 and the preheating chamber 3 that is connected to directly the upper portion of the dissolution chamber 2 and preheat a coil iron source 16, by introducing an exhaust gas that is generated in the dissolution chamber; the coil iron source is supplied to keep the state where the coil iron source exists in both the preheating chamber and the dissolution chamber; at the same time, arcs are heated and a charcoal material and oxygen are supplied to the dissolution chamber for dissolving the coil iron source, the degree of oxidization of the exhaust gas in the dissolution chamber and the preheating chamber being set to 0.61 or higher, when tapping molten metal while the coil iron source exists in the dissolved state and preheating chambers when a prescribed amount of molten metal 17 is filled; and at the same time gas containing oxygen is supplied to the exhaust gas that has passed the preheating chamber for burning the exhaust gas, and the exhaust gas temperature is set to a prescribed temperature and then the exhaust gas is quenched.
