Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for improving deterioration in illuminance due to current convergence and to provide a driving method that realizes a long life of a display device having a phosphor layer excited with an electron beam.
SOLUTION: In the method of driving the display device having the phosphor layer excited with an electron beam, at least ≥2 combinations of anode voltages Va applied to an anode electrode and element voltages Vf applied to an element electrode to discharge electrons from an electron discharge element on a rear substrate are prepared, and driving of the display device in operation mode regarding those combinations is switched in every fixed operation time. Consequently, the position where the anode electrode is irradiated with the electron beam is shifted in each mode to reduce the amount of electric charges continuously impressed to the same position.
