Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drying method of a ladle refractory by which monolithic refractory is dried by heating in a proper period of time without causing explosive bursting by subjecting the monolithic refractory to drying by heating while measuring water content change in the monolithic refractory under drying by heating.
SOLUTION: In the drying method of the ladle refractory in which burning control of a heating burner is executed while continuously measuring the water content change in the lining monolithic refractory from an outer flank of the ladle shell by a water content measuring method utilizing elastic scattering of neutron, measurement is executed at a point below 1/3 of ladle height where water content condensed inside of the shell at an early period of drying by heating is apt to be retained, heating is executed while keeping a water content increasing rate dW/dt equal to or below 1.8%/h until condensed water value reaches to a peak and after water content value begins to decrease, drying is finished at a point where the water content decreasing rate dW/dt is equal to or below -0.1%/h.
