PURPOSE: To electrochemically regenerate chromosulfuric acid that is used in organic reactions as an oxidizing agent by using an electrolytic cell comprising two tub-like half shells with a current-permeable, hydraulically sealing partition situated inbetween.
CONSTITUTION: A cell comprises two tub-like metallic half shells 1 and 2. An anode tub 1 has a slate plate 3 (anode) with holes through a wave-shaped fastener 4. A cathode tub 2 has metallic sheets 5 (cathode) through a wave-shaped fastener 6. The cathode tub and anode tub are separated by a current-permeable, hydraulically sealing partition 7 and seals 8 and 9. An anode entrance pipe 12 is arranged at a lower part of the tub 1, and a cathode entrance pipe 14 is placed on the tub 2. Exhaust pipes 13 and 15 are arranged on the tubs 1 and 2. For electrochemical regeneration, total CrO3 of anolyte is in the range of 20 to 200 g/dm3 and sulfuric acid of it is in the range of 100 to 600 g/dm3, sulfuric acid of catholyte is in the range of 50 to 500 g/dm3, anodic oxidation is performed on the conditions of current density lying in the range of 100 to 2500 A/m2 at a temp. of 40 to 110°C, and Cr3+ is made Cr6+.
