Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a method for effectively eliminating a bitter taste from an easily sol. chitosan to thereby make it easily eatable by adding a specific substance to it.
CONSTITUTION: A powder or extract of persimmon leaves is added to a sol. chitosan which is obtd. by adding an inorg. or org. acid to chitosan or by removing water from a water-soln. prepd. from a soln. of chitosan in an acid. Usually the powder or extract is added in an amt. of 15-150 pts.wt. (in terms of the wt. of persimmon leaves) based on 100 pts.wt. chitosan. Persimmon leaves are crushed e.g. to 100-150 mesh. The extract is prepd. by boiling down water contg. the powder of persimmon leaves until the amt. of water is decreased to about 1/3, removing the leaves, and vacuum-drying the residual water to give a powder.
