Abstract:

PURPOSE: To effectively prevent a polymer scale from depositing on the surface of a glass-lined polymerizer in the emulsion polymerization of a vinyl monomer.

CONSTITUTION: A vinyl monomer is emulsion-polymerized in a glass-lined polymerizer after the inner surface of the polymerizer is contacted with an acid to hydrophilize the surface.
