To provide a method for improving wetting of a contact lens and enhancing wetting properties and to obtain a composition for contact lenses by enhancing wetting properties of the contact lens to reduce injuries to cornea and tunica during putting on the contact lens and suppress uncomfortable feeling during putting on the contact lens.

The wetting properties of the contact lens are improved or enhanced by compounding sorbic acid or its salt and/or ketotifen or its salt in the composition. The wetting properties of the contact lens are further enhanced by making the composition contain sorbic acid or its salt, ketotifen or its salt and at least one kind selected from the group consisting of aminoethylsulfonic acid, aspartic acid, -aminocaproic acid, chondroitin sulfate and glucose or their salts.
